I love making copycat posts off of Gina’s. Then I don’t have to think or be creative.. I can just post with a “me-too” and feel all proud and accomplished!
We are having a very off week too. No one here is sick though….I swore I wouldn’t do this, but I did, and now I swear [...]

We’re supposed to be doing what? Homeschooling? Not a chance. We have the plague. We may never be well again.
Well, I did sign up for the Cosmeo trial and Quinn and Liam watched Bodyworlds today. They count, right?

Today was very frustrating for me. Allison is such a complainer. She never seems to find the positive in anything..so grumbling and arguing and just being very negative as she is every day when we break out the books, today she angrily exclaims, “I hate school, I wish I never had to do school and [...]

Quinn (age 10) had to write a 50-word “report” on a famous American for his Citizenship badge for Webelos. Here is his writing on President Lincoln (cliche, I know):
These are the ways I think president lincoln is a very good american.
He grew up very poor and still became a president.

This site was shared on a blog I subscribe to. It’s really powerful and educational. Both Quinn and Liam were interested and engaged, and I think it could lead to a good deal of further inquiry.

In general, we’re good homeschoolers on Mondays. I feel ready to hit the ground running, these days Jason is off on Mondays, and our only out-of-the-house commitment is in the evening. Snowy and bitterly cold Mondays are even better.
I’ve decided to really accelerate the Ambleside Online schedule of Our Island Story. At their rate it [...]

I don’t really want to unschool the kids, but I want to unschool myself.
I’ve been sick all week, and doing more than the normal amount of reading (since I read nonfiction all day for work, have a lot of studying to do, and read to the kids a good chunk my own pleasure reading is [...]

Don’t judge me based on the state of the window behind Quinn, okay. We have three boys, a lab puppy, a two-year-old girlfriend, and a baby nephew. I swear I clean it once in awhile, okay? Okay!?

Quinn oftentimes struggles with math.
Sometimes I think it’s because Singapore doesn’t have them memorize multiplication tables and the like (any thoughts about supplementing with that?). So, he has to reason out every simple problem (simple division in this case), every time he does it.
Once he stops lamenting his misfortune, though, he puzzles it out pretty [...]
